Overview

Ben started as a carpenter. Certificate III in Carpentry, then Certificate IV in Building. Before he started Breakthrough, he spent years working with high-end residential builders, and that's where his standard for finishing work was set.

Carpentry is the trade that runs through everything we do. It's the framing behind the walls, the skirting along the floors, the doors that hang straight and close properly. When the carpentry is right, the whole home feels solid. When it's not, you notice it every time you look at a join or close a door.

Structural Carpentry

Wall framing, roof framing, floor joists, bearers, and structural supports. We work on both new builds and existing homes where something structural needs to change, like removing a wall, adding an opening, or reinforcing a frame that's sagging.

If the frame isn't square, plumb, and level, every trade that comes after the carpenter has a harder job. The plasterer can't get clean lines. The tiler has to pack out corners. The doors won't sit right. Getting the structure right saves time and money across the rest of the build.

Internal Fitouts

Fitouts are where a space goes from shell to finished. We handle internal fitouts for residential projects, including stud walls, ceiling framing, bulkheads, door frames, window trims, built-in wardrobes, shelving, and cabinetry installation. It's the stage where the layout takes shape and the rooms start to look like rooms.

On renovation projects, the fitout stage often involves working around existing structures. That means adapting new framing to walls that aren't perfectly straight, matching new work to old, and making sure everything lines up before the plasterer and painter come through. Ben's experience with high-end residential work is where that attention to detail counts most.

Finishing Carpentry

Door hanging, window installation, skirting boards, architraves, shadow lines, and custom timber features. This is the work that's on display in your home every day, so there's no room for gaps, uneven joins, or rough edges.

Ben is particular about this. Tight mitres, flush joins, consistent reveals. It's the kind of detail that most people don't consciously notice, but they'd notice if it was wrong.

General Carpentry & Repairs

We also handle smaller standalone jobs. Timber fencing, internal walls (we built a new wall in a Forest Lodge home to create a separate room), ceiling repairs, deck maintenance, and general carpentry work around the home. You don't need a full renovation to work with us.

Service Areas

Eastern Suburbs (Bondi to Malabar), Southern Sydney (Sutherland Shire & St George), Northern Sydney (Manly, Mosman, Lane Cove), and the Inner West.
